About the Workshop

This workshop creates focused time for dancers to work with a defined movement idea. Rather than rushing toward a finished sequence, the session gives space to understand how choreography is built, how musical detail guides movement and how repeated practice can make performance choices clearer.

Workshop note 01

The Performance Lab is suitable for dancers who want to spend concentrated time with performance while remaining attentive to their own experience level. The focus is on guided exploration, so participants can observe the material carefully, ask practical questions and understand how each movement connects to the complete phrase.

Workshop note 02

During the workshop, dancers experience the process of receiving choreography, relating it to the music and revisiting sections until the timing becomes more dependable. Repetition is used as a way to discover detail rather than simply memorise counts, helping participants notice pathways, accents, transitions and the quality behind each action.

Workshop note 03

Practical learning may involve choreography, musicality, movement quality, spacing and performance presence. Feedback helps dancers recognise where an idea needs greater clarity and gives them a more deliberate way to practise. The aim is to connect technique with expression so the movement feels considered rather than automatic.

Workshop note 04

A focused workshop can complement regular dance classes by introducing a fresh theme and a different learning pace. Dancers can take the awareness developed here back into ongoing training, using it to approach future choreography with stronger listening, more adaptable movement and a clearer understanding of how practice supports performance.
